Treatment of papillomas: means their removal

Papilloma on the neck of a woman

Papillomas - localized on the surface of the skin and mucous membrane, have the appearance of papillary growth located on a thin "foot". This disease is associated with human papillomavirus. The resulting papillomas can be traumatic, painful, and cause external defects. In this case, a natural question arises about their removal. Below we will talk about drugs to eliminate papillomas.

Human papillomavirus is not a harmless representative of the viral flora. It not only causes the formation of papillomas and warts, but this pathogen sometimes causes malignant tumors, in particular cervical cancer. In 2019, scientists published a paper that found that the public's knowledge about the human papillomavirus, its transmission, consequences and preventive measures is low.

Local medicines

Use local drugs to eliminate papilloma

First of all, let's look at drugs specially designed to eliminate papillomas. We emphasize that you should consult a specialist before using them.

The first drug is a liquid for external use containing two components - metacresol and phenol. With the help of a special stick, it should be applied to the affected areas of the skin and mucous membrane, without touching the adjacent areas of the skin. For small papillomas, as a rule, only one application is enough, for larger ones, it may be necessary to repeat (3-4 times) with an interval of several minutes.

How does this tool work? The solution containing the components leads to the coagulation of skin proteins, thanks to which the papilloma disappears.

Another commonly used preparation is a liquid made from sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, and sodium hydroxide. It also treats not only papillomas, but warts, genital warts, etc.

In addition, the solution includes:

  • nitric acid;
  • acetic acid;
  • lactic acid;
  • oxalic acid dihydrate;
  • copper nitrate trihydrate.

This local necrotization contributes to the destruction of pathologically changed tissues belonging to the drugs. This product is also applied to the affected area. If necessary, the processing is repeated several times.

Systemic therapy

Only local drugs are not enough to effectively fight papillomas. To prevent relapse, it is necessary to carry out systemic therapy, in particular, taking drugs with antiviral and immunomodulatory effects.

An example is inosine, acetobene, and dimeranol. This drug is active against the human papillomavirus, helps suppress it in the body and has an immunostimulating effect.

We emphasize once again that you should consult a specialist before using any medicine.
